Murals – you see them everywhere in and around downtown Wichita.

Almost everywhere you turn these days locals and visitors alike are enjoying amazing murals that one by one are bringing the cityscape of downtown Wichita to life. Bold and creative, these huge works of art celebrate the city, its history, and its heritage, showcasing everything from sports teams to retail hotspots.

but something is missing!

Where are the oilfield murals?

That’s right, although Wichita is known for its long oil and gas history that even helped to facilitate the city’s growth and leadership in aviation there is not one single oilfield mural in town. Thankfully our friends at the Desk and Derrick Club of Wichita said, “Enough is enough” and decided to do something about it – and now thanks to our friends at Brick & Mortar – Wichita’s Hottest Event Venue – they have secured a location, selected an artist and are on the path to having some downtown oil and gas recognition in the heart of Wichita.

Please join us for the Desk and Derrick Club of Wichita Mural Kickoff event where you will enjoy cocktails and appetizers with around a hundred of your closest regional oilfield friends and colleagues. You will also get a tour of the location, have a chance to meet the artist, enjoy some local music and submit your ideas for the project and show your support for this long overdue initiative.

Known for some of the city’s most eye-catching works of art Brickmob is an urban art and apparel brand with meaning. Brickmob hand creates epic murals and urban threads using eco-friendly techniques and locally owned supplies whenever possible. Their crew partakes in a multitude of events, festivals, and public art projects to help our community thrive and bolster civic unity.
